Purpose and Objectives

 

The 7 km Health Marathon:

Starts at 13:10.

The course is marked on cross-country terrain.

There is one refreshment station offering water and nutrition on the course.

The distance time limit is two hours.

The skiers are to ski in free style and the distance time limit is three hours.

The 22 km Sportland People’s Marathon :

Starts at 13:00.

The course is marked on cross-country terrain.

The first finishers of each hundred (i.e. 101, 201, 301, 401, 501, 601, 701, 801, 901, 1001, etc finisher) receives a guaranteed EUR 110 gift card.

There are refreshment stations offering water and nutrition on the course.

The distance time limit is three hours. 

The skiers are to ski in free style.

  The Burusports Kids Marathon up to 1 km:

Starts at 11:00

Takes place in the Start/finish area.

To promote skiing as a type of winter recreation and sports for the whole family.

To improve the skills of Latvian cross-country skiers.

To preserve heritage and continue traditions of the cross-country ski marathon Around Alauksts .

To promote active and healthy lifestyle.

To increase the number of tourists visiting Latvia.

Organisers

Since 1984, the cross-country ski marathon Around Alauksts has been organised by the Sports Club Alauksts, registration number LV40008108605, phone number +371 22013324, +371 2947855, www.alauksts.lv. The Sports Club Alauksts is a member of the Latvian Ski Federation.

The general sponsor of the cross-country ski marathon Around Alauksts is Latvian State Forests.

The sponsor of the 22 km People’s Marathon of Around Alauksts is Sportland.

The sponsor of the Kids Marathon (up to 1 km) of Around Alauksts is Burusports.

The cross-country ski marathon Around Alauksts is organised according to the rules of the International Ski Federation (FIS).

Time and Venue 

The cross-country ski marathon Around Alauksts 2018 will take place on 10 February 2018.

The Start/finish area is in Vecpiebalga, Vecpiebalga Parish, Vecpiebalga Municipality, Latvia, on the lake Alauksts. 

Programme

7:30 – Starting registration of the participants and distribution of start numbers 

10:00 – Registration for the Burusports Kids Marathon up to 1 km 

11:00 – Start of the Burusports Kids Marathon up to 1 km  

11:45 – Finish of the Burusports Kids Marathon up to 1 km  

12:30 – Awarding of the Kids distance winners 

12:00 – Closing registration for the 7 km Health Marathon and Sportland 22 km People’s Marathon 

13:00 – Start of the 7 km Health Marathon and Sportland 22 km People’s Marathon 

13:30-16:00 – Finish of the 7 km Health Marathon and Sportland 22 km People’s Marathon

16:00 – Awarding of the winners of the 7 km Health Marathon and Sportland 22 km People’s Marathon and lottery

Registration Procedure 

Pre-registration is open until midnight of 08 February:

5.1.1.On the official website at www.alauksts.lv by paying with a payment card (Visa, MasterCard, Visa Electron, Maestro).

5.1.2.At SPORTLAND stores across Latvia: http://sportland.lv/pages/veikali]

Registration on the competition day:

5.2.1.Registration on the competition day takes place at the Start /Finish area in the registration tent located at the stage on the bank of the lake Alauksts.

5.2.2.Registration of the participants for each distance closes 1.5 hours before the Start.

The participants may register in teams:

5.3.1.The Sportland 22 km People’s Marathon:

A team may register an unlimited number of participants;

The result of a team consists of skiing results of three best performing team members; overall ranking;

Team members’ individual results will also be assessed;

Teams may be registered as a company, club or independent teams;

There are no restrictions on the participants’ nationality;

Team standings are not divided for men and women separately.

5.3.2.The 7 km Health Marathon:

A team may register an unlimited number of participants;

The result of a team consists of the most attractive ski costume design;

The most entertaining team name along with the respective ski costumes is also assessed;

Participants nationality is not limited;

There are no restrictions on the participants’ nationality.

The minimum number of team members is four members.

Companies and teams may pay the registration fee by submitting a completed application form and a company’s details to the e-mail [email protected] The invoice should be paid no later than five days before the start of the ski marathon.

The participants shall have the right to change the registered distance or personal data 10 days before the ski marathon by emailing a change request to [email protected] and paying the re-registration fee in the amount of EUR 10 as well as the difference resulting from the distance change, if any.

If a start number is lost, the new one will cost EUR 10. 

Skiers having an invitation card shall present it during registration.

  1. The registration fee includes:

  2. Till 01.02.2018, the participants may purchase the VIP Premium member package:
    1. Personalised VIP race number with your first name, surname or team name printed on it;

    3. Last minute VIP start number collection without queuing at the VIP registration tent and the possibility to show up at the Start 15 minutes before the  marathon starts;
    4. VIP tent with snacks and beverages;
    5. VIP marathon corridor (No. 2) on the Sportland 22 km  People’s Marathon distance;

  3. The registration fee for the participation in the cross-country ski marathon Around Alauksts 2017 shall not be refunded.
  4. The participants who took part in the previous cross-country ski marathon Around Alauksts are entitled to a 50% discount on the registration fee.
  5. If the cross-country ski marathon is cancelled due to the events of force majeure (insufficient amount of snow, the air temperature exceeds the permitted limit), the participation fee shall be transferred to the next year’s registration fee for the ski marathon Around Alauksts 2018. 
  1. Transfer of Participation 
  1. A participant shall have the right not to participate in the cross-country ski marathon Around Alauksts 2018 and transfer the registration fee for Around Alauksts 2018 to Around Alauksts 2019 in the manner as follows:
    1. By notifying the organiser of it not later than until 01.22.2018 by emailing an electronic application in a free form marked Participation Transfer to [email protected] 
    2. Applications received after 01.22.2018 shall be considered invalid, and the participation fee paid shall not be transferred to the ski marathon 2019.
  1. Ski Marathon Cancellation
  1. If the marathon is cancelled due to the events of force majeure or the lack of snow, registration of the competition participant shall be transferred and the registration fee shall be refunded in accordance with the applicable regulations and rights regulated by the organiser and providing that the organiser has the right to use the registration fee paid to cover the participant’s costs on the competition day.
  2. The Organiser, Sports Club Alauksts, shall inform about the ski marathon cancellation 72 hours in advance.
  3. All participants and registration fees paid by them shall be transferred to Around Alauksts 2019.
  4. If a participant does not agree with Clause 9.3, he or she can get a 30% refund of the participation fee paid by emailing a request in a free form to [email protected] within ten days after the planned marathon day. 30% of the registration fee shall be returned within ten days after the receipt of said request.
  5. A force majeure event shall be any unforeseen event which the organiser cannot neither influence nor control, for instance, weather conditions, war, riots, strike, fire, flood, earthquake, (snow) storm, pouring rain or any other natural disasters.
  6. If the parties fail to reach agreement, the dispute shall be resolved in accordance with the effective Latvian laws in court of the Republic of Latvia.

 

  1. Participant’s Responsibility
  1. Pre-registered participants shall collect their start numbers not later than 30 minutes before the Start on their distance. 
  2. The participants who register on-site on the day of the competition shall collect their start numbers not later than 1.5 hours before the Start on their distance.
  3. The start number shall be attached to the front of clothing so that it is clearly visible throughout the whole distance.
  4. The special time measuring and result detection chip devices (if used by the organiser) provided are to be attached to the right leg above the ankle.
  5. The chip shall be immediately returned after finishing (it will be taken off by a marathon service person). For a failure to return the chip a penalty in the amount of EUR 22 shall be imposed.  
  6. The organisers shall not be responsible for the children covering the distance without registration and without the organisers’ consent. 
  7. The organisers shall not be responsible for any possible injuries the participants may have during the competition.
  8. When applying for the competition, each participant shall provide all the necessary data, including correct identity number, address, date of birth, and confirm that the information provided is accurate and does not contain any grammatical errors (written in Latin letters using appropriate length signs and cedillas). Otherwise, the result may be not calculated.
  9. When applying for the competition, each participant shall confirm by their signatures that the distance chosen is appropriate for their state of health and that they will comply with the Competition Rules.
  10. When registering for the competitions, the participants shall agree that photos and video footages taken during the competition are used for the needs of the organisers.
  11. Waste must be thrown out only in the designated areas. It is prohibited to litter the environment and throw waste outside the designated areas. On the distance, waste containers shall be located 10 meters before and after each refreshment station. Please respect the environment and do not dump waste (beverage bottles, gel tubes, etc.) in the woods or ditches where it will be difficult to be found by the cleaning staff after the marathon. 
  1. Taking Positions at the Start
  1. The start numbers shall be distributed taking into consideration the results of the previous year.
  2. Places in the competition corridors shall be allocated taking into consideration the results of the previous year.
  3. Places in Corridor No. 2 shall be designated for the participants invited by the organisers.
  4. On the Kids distance, the participants shall take place in the corridors according to their year of birth.
  5. If a participant registers for the marathon on the site, the place in the corridor shall be allocated without taking into consideration the results of the previous year.

  1. The 22 km Sportland People’s Marathon:
    1. Age limit: all skiers born before 2001. Exceptions shall be children:

– to whom  coaches gave their permission;

– for whom full responsibility was taken by their parents.

  1. Prizes and Receipt Thereof 
  1. The first three finishers on each distance shall be given flowers.
  2. Prizes in the 7 km Health Marathon: 
    1. Alauksts 2018 Most Stylish Skier – a prize for a skier with the most attractive ski costume, attitude, attractiveness and performance. 
    2. Alauksts 2018 Most Stylish Team – a prize for a team with the most entertaining team name and associated ski costumes (a team must consist of at least four participants). 
    3. Commemorative medals for each skier.
    4. Awards to the top three participants in the women’s/men’s class. 
  3. Prizes in the 22 km Sportland People’s Marathon:
    1. The participants taking part in the cross-country ski marathon Around Alauksts for the 10th, 15th, 20th or 25th time will receive commemorative medals.
    2. Overall winners in the women’s/men’s class – the 1st place – EUR 250, 2nd place – EUR 150, 3rd place – EUR 100.
    3. Prize money shall be awarded to the fastest skiers without classification into age groups.
    4. 1st place in each age group – a prize and a cup.
    5. 2nd and 3rd place in each age group – a commemorative prize and a diploma.
    6. Alauksts 2018 Fastest Team – a prize for a team whose result consists of the individual results of three best performing team members (a team must consist of at least four participants).
    7. The first finishers of each hundred (i.e. 101, 201, 301, 401, 501, 601, 701, 801, 901, 1001, etc finisher) receives a guaranteed EUR 110 gift card.

14.4. Receiving prize money:

14.4.1. Prize money and commemorative medals shall be awarded only during the awards ceremony.

14.4.2. If a participant does not participate in the awards ceremony, commemorative prizes and prize money shall not be awarded. 

14.4.3. Prize money shall be transferred to the recipient’s bank account within 15 working days of receipt of the request specifying the bank account to which prize money is to be transferred. 

14.4. 4. Prize money shall not be awarded to the participants who submit the request later than 30 days after publication of the preliminary results at www.alauksts.lv.

15. General Provisions

  1. If within one calendar year a person receives prizes the total value of which exceeds EUR 142.28, the excess amount shall be subject to the personal income tax (24%) in accordance with the law of the Republic of Latvia (Clause 19 of Section 9 of the Personal Income Tax Law). In accordance with the laws of the Republic of Latvia, the recipient shall pay the tax himself or herself. 
  2. Prize money shall be transferred to the recipient’s bank account.
  3. When receiving prize money, the participants shall present their ID document (a passport or a driving license).
  4. Prize money and commemorative medals shall be awarded only during the awards ceremony. If a participant does not participate in the awards ceremony, commemorative prizes and prize money shall not be awarded. 
  5. When collecting the start number, each participant shall confirm by his or her signature that the distance chosen is appropriate for his or her state of health. 
  6. When registering for the competitions, the participants agree that the photos and video footage taken during the competition is used for the competition marketing and advertising activities. 
  7. The organisers shall not be responsible for any possible injuries the participants may have during the competition.
  8. If during the registration a participant provides false or inaccurate personal data, he or she shall be disqualified.
  9. Unauthorised shortening of the distance shall result in disqualification of the participant.
  10. Unauthorised advertising on the competition site is subject to a EUR 1,000 fine.
  11. The Jury together with the organisers is entitled to resolve the issues not stipulated in the Competition Rules.
  12. The organisers shall not be responsible for the ignorance or non-compliance with the Competition Rules on the part of the participants. 
  13. Unauthorised start number production shall result in the cancellation of the results.
  14. In-competition doping controls may be performed. 
  15. While covering the distance, the participants shall not influence by their actions other competition participants and their results.
  16. Any participant who believes that he or she has been impeded by some action before crossing the finish line may submit a claim to the chief judge. The claim must be submitted in writing within 15 min after finishing and is subject to a EUR 30 fee payable in the information tent.
  17. Start materials shall be handed out: on the day of the marathon at the Marathon Centre located in the Start/Finish area on the lake Alauksts, in the registration tent. Handing out of the materials closes 1.5 hours before the Start on each distance.
  18. Time shall be kept by using an electronic or time chip properly fastened to the right ankle (up to 20 cm from the ground) from Start to Finish. After finishing, the chip must be returned to the organisers. In case of loss, please immediately inform the competition office. If a participant withdraws from the competition, the chip must be returned to the competition office. Each participant shall be responsible for the chip from the moment it is issued until it is returned after finishing. Loss or not returning the chip will result in a EUR 30 penalty.  
  19. To ensure the result, the start number must be clearly visible throughout the whole distance.
  20. Preliminary results shall be regularly updated on the info board in the finish area and on the Internet at www.alauksts.lv.  The official results will be published on 12.02.2018 at 17:00 at www.alauksts.lv.
  21. The participants must consider traffic restrictions. Car parking and stopping is permitted only when not disturbing other vehicles.
  22. Medical help is ensured by Vecpiebalga Outpatient Clinic in collaboration with the Emergency Medical Service. If you notice a participant who needs help, try to help and inform the organisers, or call 112. 
  23. The terms and conditions of claim submission concerning admission of the competitors are compliant with the FIS rules (Clause 393).
  24. All protests related to the organisation of the event shall be considered by the competition jury: (1) the chief judge of the competition, (2) the competition delegate, (3) competition director of the cross-country ski marathon Around Alauksts. Other unforeseen cases shall be considered by the Organising Committee.
  1. Information about the Marathon
  1. All information about the cross-country ski marathon Around Alauksts provided by the organisers and binding upon the participants shall be published on the official website at www.alauksts.lv.
  2. The organisers shall, as far as possible, provide information on the latest developments and changes in the planned event via public announcements sent to the media representatives, publication of the respective information on social network accounts as well as via sending electronic messages to all participants who have registered for Around Alauksts 2018.     
  1. Amendments to the Competition Rules
  1. The organisers shall have the right to amend and supplement the Competition Rules. The participants shall be informed about the amendments made to the Competition Rules via the official web site.
